The Problem

Chemsex — the use of drugs to enhance sexual experiences, predominantly among gay and bisexual men — sits at the intersection of substance abuse, sexual health, and mental wellbeing. Yet support services remain fragmented, stigmatised, and rarely designed with the specific needs of this community in mind.

Existing mental health platforms typically avoid or mishandle topics around recreational drug use in sexual contexts. Mainstream addiction services often lack the cultural competence to address queer-specific dynamics. And the people who need support the most are frequently the least likely to seek it out through traditional channels due to shame, stigma, or fear of judgement.

There was no digital platform purpose-built for private, non-judgemental, psychologist-backed support at this specific intersection.

The Solution

Glynda.org is a private digital support platform for gay and bisexual men navigating chemsex, sexual wellbeing, and recovery. It gives users practical tools without judgement, pressure, or clinical coldness.

The platform provides:

  • Structured journaling — guided reflection tools that help users track patterns, triggers, and progress in a safe, private environment.
  • Practical toolkits — evidence-based resources co-designed with psychologists and harm reduction specialists, covering everything from harm minimisation to recovery pathways.
  • Safe community spaces — moderated environments where users can connect with others navigating similar experiences, reducing isolation without compromising privacy.
  • Psychologist-backed content — all platform content is reviewed and shaped by clinical professionals specialising in psychosexual issues and substance abuse within LGBTQ+ communities.

The Impact

Glynda.org shows what specialist wellbeing technology can do when it starts from the lived reality of the user. The platform brings structure, privacy, harm reduction, and community understanding into one place, reducing the friction that often stops people seeking help.

The platform's approach — combining clinical rigour with community sensitivity — contributed to GLYNDA CIC receiving the Best LGBTQ+ Wellbeing & AI Specialist 2026 award from The IT Awards.
