The Problem

Technology rental companies run complex operational workflows with very little room for error. A single rental order touches CRM (customer onboarding and account management), order management (pricing, availability, booking), logistics (shipping, collection, tracking), asset management (device inventory, condition, lifecycle), mobile device management (MDM — wiping, configuring, enrolling devices), and increasingly IoT SIM management (activating, suspending, and automating connectivity).

Before RentOS, companies stitched together 5-8 separate systems to handle these workflows. The result: duplicated data entry, manual handoffs between systems, devices sitting in prep for days instead of hours, and no single source of truth for a rental order's complete lifecycle.

Device preparation — the process of wiping, configuring, testing, and shipping a device — was the biggest bottleneck. Manual MDM enrolment, SIM activation, and configuration could take 30-45 minutes per device, making rapid turnaround for large orders practically impossible.

  • Built-in MDM — integrated mobile device management that automates device wiping, configuration, app deployment, and security policy enforcement without leaving the platform.
  • IoT SIM Automation — automated SIM activation, suspension, data plan management, and connectivity monitoring for every device in the fleet.

The most valuable part is the automated device prep pipeline: when a device is assigned to an order, RentOS triggers MDM enrolment, applies the correct configuration profile, activates the SIM, runs diagnostics, and marks the device as ready — reducing device prep time by up to 95%.

The Impact

RentOS turns technology rental operations from a labour-intensive, multi-system workflow into a clearer operational pipeline. The 95% reduction in device prep time means what previously took 30-45 minutes per device now takes under 2 minutes and largely runs without human intervention.
